Cuneo, the State Police fights against aiding and abetting illegal immigration
The investigations allowed them to acquire serious evidence against the owner of the CAF who, in exchange for money of between 1.500 and 3.500 euros in cash, had prepared and sent 97 postal kits, of which 70 for the request of a residence permit for family reasons and 27 for subordinate work reasons, in total absence of the basic requirements, provided for by law.
Cuneo, the State Police fights against aiding and abetting illegal immigration
The Cuneo State Police as part of a complex investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Asti, executed this morning an order for the application of the measure of house arrest against an Italian citizen, owner of a CAF located in Cherasco, for the crime of aiding and abetting the presence on the national territory of numerous irregular Albanian citizens, in order to gain unjust profit.
In particular, the investigations carried out by the Mobile Squad of the Cuneo Police Headquarters developed, starting from the month of July, after investigations carried out by the Immigration Office, on numerous requests for residence permits for work and family reunification reasons, forwarded by Albanian citizens through postal kits, inside which were inserted documents not suitable for obtaining the permits.
In light of what had emerged, the Police Chief of the Province of Cuneo, on the basis of the investigation carried out by the Immigration Office, issued decrees rejecting the requests for residence permits against the applicants, whose practices were all traceable to the CAF located in Cherasco, registered in the name of the 64-year-old Italian citizen, recipient of the coercive measure.
The investigations, also carried out with technical support and witness interviews of the foreigners involved, allowed to acquire serious evidence of guilt with regard to the crime contested and the related aggravating circumstances, against the aforementioned owner of the CAF of Cherasco who, in exchange for compensation in the form of sums between 1.500 and 3.500 euros in cash, during the investigation period alone, had prepared and sent 97 postal kits, of which 70 for the request of a residence permit for family reasons and 27 for subordinate work reasons, in total absence of the basic requirements, provided for by law.
The Police Chief of the province of Cuneo, in relation to the operation of the Judicial Police coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Asti, highlighted the important synergy between the Immigration Office and the Mobile Squad of the Cuneo Police Headquarters, which allowed to identify ways of facilitating the clandestine stay on the National Territory of numerous foreign citizens, by the owner of a CAF who, without having the professional requirements, managed a real business agency, profiting, with unjust profit, large sums of money to the detriment of foreigners who asked for assistance.
