Cortemilia: Violent and aggressive towards elderly people in nursing home, social care worker sentenced
The Court of Asti has sentenced a 25-year-old Senegalese social worker working at a nursing home in Cortemilia to eighteen months of imprisonment, with a suspended sentence. The investigations, conducted by the local Carabinieri Station and the Alba Company, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Asti, began thanks to numerous anonymous complaints arrived at those departments and allowed to ascertain the man's impetuous and unprofessional behavior. Simple requests from guests of the facility turned into moments of verbal confrontation and heavy insults, pushing, physical aggression culminating with a slap in the face towards an elderly lady.
Such behavior had created a climate of apprehension among the elderly guests and following the first investigative findings, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Asti had requested and obtained from the Judge for Preliminary Investigations the measure of one-year ban from health facilities ordered on 01 and applied on 03.2024, which was added to a suspension imposed by the Management of the Nursing Home. At the end of the trial, the sentence of eighteen months of imprisonment, with suspended sentence, and compensation of €06.04.2024 in addition to the payment of legal costs to the civil parties.
