The mural is hosted by the electrical cabin, owned by the municipality and managed by Agsm Aim, located in Piazza Matteotti near the intersection with Viale Giuriolo. The work, so as not to forget the statesman killed in 1924 by fascist assassins, follows the commemorative plaque placed in Palazzo del Territorio last June 10, on the anniversary of Matteotti's death.

«Street art returns through a creative and contemporary art form strong, immediate and understandable messages to all. Street art does not only have an aesthetic value, but is also capable of returning civic messages by speaking of shared values and stories. We therefore want this form of expression to be increasingly present in our city. It is no coincidence that we wanted this mural to be present in Piazza Matteotti, in a very visible point of the historic center. We therefore thank Osvaldo Casanova and the Committee for having embraced the idea of creating a mural in memory of Giacomo Matteotti and all the actors who contributed, from Agsm Aim, Amcps, which provided the scaffolding, to the municipal offices to the shops in this area that supported the initiative», he declares the councilor for youth policies Leonardo Nicolai.

«There are several initiatives already implemented by the Committee of the City of Vicenza for the Celebrations of the centenary of the death of Giacomo Matteotti in collaboration with the Municipality. With a limited budget, we have tried to implement projects that speak to the new generations, showing Matteotti as an example of good and genuine politics. We started last May 30 with a flash mob organized in front of some secondary schools in the city in which some actors took part and tried their hand at reading the speech that Matteotti gave on May 30, 1924 in Parliament. In October we launched the competition aimed at schools "The idea that in me" and held two meetings promoted by Istrevi, aimed at both students and citizens. The winners of the competition will be announced and awarded on December 17 with a ceremony at 10 am at the Rossi Institute", points out Giovanni Diamanti, President of the Committee.

«The mural is an artistic language, new and contemporary, that speaks to young people and future generations. Dedicating a mural to Matteotti demonstrates the will of this administration to remember his democratic values and social justice, values that are also at the basis of our republican constitution», he concludes Massimo Bardin, councilor delegated to the organizational coordination functions of the initiatives for the celebrations of the Centenary of the death of Giacomo Matteotti.

The drawing was hand-made with acrylic colors by Osvaldo Casanova in about five days. After cleaning the cabin surface, we moved on to producing the background and then the drawings. The work is developed on three sides of the booth and tells, with as many vignettes, connected by a symbolic black thread, the last period of Matteotti's life: from the speech in Parliament on 30 May 1924 to his kidnapping by fascist hitmen.
