An additional inter-force service has been implemented in the municipality of Vicenza to combat widespread crime, drug dealing and irregular immigration.
The main areas of the city that were the subject of reports and complaints were affected: Campo Marzo, Piazzale Bologna, the squares of the historic center, Corso SS Felice and Fortunato, Viale San Lazzaro and surrounding areas, many neighborhoods in the West and East sectors of the city. Some bars that were the subject of reports by residents in the area of Via Parini, Viale San Lazzaro and Via Lanza were also checked.
The Vicenza Police Headquarters (Flying Police, Immigration and Scientific Police, Railway Police), the Crime Prevention Unit of Padua, the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza with an anti-drug canine unit, the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri and the Local Police of Vicenza collaborated in the activities.
A total of approximately 30 men and women from the aforementioned Commands were employed.
The results:
– 190 people were identified/checked, of which 57 were foreigners and 42 had criminal and/or police records, 39 vehicles and 2 public establishments/bars and/or betting shops were checked.
The operation conducted by the Police Forces, which is part of the initiatives coordinated by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security to improve the conditions of actual and perceived security in the territory, led to the arrest of EA, a 32-year-old Nigerian citizen, resident in Vicenza.
In Vicenza, the military of the local Carabinieri Station proceeded to check a Nigerian citizen who, in Corso SS Felice e Fortunato, was found in possession of approximately 7 grams of cocaine and 8 of heroin, divided into 24 doses, and the cash sum of over 1000 euros believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
Declared under arrest for the crime of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, at the end of the formal procedures he was taken to house arrest as ordered by the Judicial Authority pending the validation judgment.
