Vicenza celebrates the World Day of Persons with Disabilities with the “Empathic Walk”
On Tuesday, December 3, Vicenza celebrates an event open to the public that will allow you to experience disability, walking through the city center in a wheelchair or blindfolded.

Appointment Tuesday 3 December, at 11, at the entrance of Porta Castello, with the “Empathic Walk”: initiative open to the public, sponsored by the Municipality of Vicenza, which includes a short route that can be done in a wheelchair or blindfolded (with the material made available by the organizers), through the city center, with the aim of making people experience and try out the experience of living with various disabilities.
Some representatives of the initiative will participate in the initiative Giunta and the City Council, including the deputy mayor Isabella Sala, the councilor for social policies Matteo Tosetto, the president of the city council Massimiliano Zaramella and the city councilor Luisa Consolaro.
The event was also organized by the councilor delegated for inclusive policies aimed at people with disabilities Mauro Burlina, who coordinates the municipal table on the "Quality of inclusive policies", absent on Tuesday due to unavoidable commitments also related to disability. Also present at the walk will be Dr. Blanca Ojeda Montes, company representative for the Inclusive Social Tourism project of Ulss 8 Berica. The short route is scheduled to start at 11.30 from Piazza Castello and will wind along Corso Palladio, until arriving at Palazzo Trissino at around half past midday.
The event is part of the project “Empathic experiences in Vicenza”, organized by the working group that deals with accessibility and mobility of people with disabilities, in collaboration with the Municipality of Vicenza. Group made up of various associations such as Fish, Uici, Uildm, Gsnv and Aism and Gaia Rovati who promotes and facilitates the group's proposals and initiatives. The promoter of the Empathic Walk, instead, is the non-profit cultural association “Stay with Us” of Luca Lapo. In case of bad weather, the walk will be postponed to a date to be defined.
The day chosen for the initiative is not a coincidence: December 3rd is in fact World Women's Day. people with disabilities, established by the United Nations in 1981.
