Vicenza celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of Palladio's Villas in the UNESCO World Heritage List
On December 17, an event will be held in Vicenza at Palazzo Trissino to mark the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO site's inscription, with speeches by institutions and professionals in the sector.
Vicenza celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of Palladio's Villas in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Tuesday 17 December is the thirtieth anniversary of the first registration of the site “City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas in the Veneto” on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which took place on 17 December 1994 during the 18th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
To celebrate this important moment with which the site became part of the UNESCO World Heritage, the administration is promoting a celebratory event on Tuesday 17 December, from 10 to 12, in the Stucchi room of Palazzo Trissino, which citizens can attend in person (maximum 100 people) or via remote connection (link).
The event program will see the participation of the mayor Giacomo Possamai, the councilor for economic development and territory with responsibility for the UNESCO site Cristina Balbi and the councilor responsible for good practices of the Municipality of Vicenza and member of the board of directors of the Association of Italian World Heritage Sites Stefano Dal Pra Caputo.
This will be followed by interventions from the main public institutions involved in the management of the site (Consorzio Vicenzaè, UNESCO Office of the Ministry of Culture, Veneto Region, Regional Institute of Venetian Villas, Province of Vicenza) and the Association of Italian World Heritage Sites. by Guido Beltramini, director of the Palladio Museum and architect Katia Basili, project manager of the updating process of the site's Management Plan.
A special moment will be reserved for the presentation of the graphic illustration dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary, conceived by the illustrator Ale Giorgini and created by Giancarlo Busato, master of art of the Bottega Storica Stamperia d'arte Busato, who will be present. A numbered lithographic copy will be delivered to the referents of each Palladian property registered on the site.
