Vicenza: a drunk motorcyclist with an oil leak from his vehicle was stopped after a police chase. His license was withdrawn and he was reported.
At 5.10 am on Sunday 15 September, the Operations Centre of the Police Headquarters sent a team on duty as a "Flying Squad" to Viale della Pace, in Vicenza, following a report from a private citizen who was reporting a car accident. Along the way to get there, the patrol officers came across a motorcyclist who, while driving at high speed, did not notice the oil leak from his vehicle (most likely attributable to the reported road accident), thus endangering the safety of road users.
The Police Officers they drew the motorcyclist's attention by activating the light signals both flashing and sound, ordering him to stop, but the subject increased his speed, fleeing. The Flying Squad Operators then started chasing him, until they reached Borgo Casale, where he was stopped and identified.
Showing obvious signs of alcohol abuse, was subjected to a breathalyser test which gave results three times higher than the limit established by law.
For this reason he was accompanied to the Police Headquarters where, in addition to being notified of the report to the local Prefecture for the license withdrawal, was reported to the Judicial Authority for driving under the influence of alcohol and at the same time administratively sanctioned for not wearing a helmet as well as for not stopping when ordered to do so by the officers.
