Bassano del Grappa: Fraudulent Rolex purchases with counterfeit banknotes, reported

Following one complaint for fraud committed against the owner of a gold watch of considerable value, the officers of the Bassano del Grappa Police Station, under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Padua, they started a complex investigative activity that allowed them to identify the alleged perpetrators, all members of a single family unit resident in the municipality of Arquà Polesine (RO).

The scam, committed in May 2024, had materialized in Padua where the victim, resident in Bassano del Grappa, had met the buyers to sell his watch. After concluding the deal and receiving cash in fifty Euro notes, he realized that he had been given fake banknotes, bearing the same serial number.

At the end of the investigation, personnel from the Bassano del Grappa Police Station and the “property crimes” section of the Flying Squad of the Vicenza Police Headquarters, they executed a search warrant, issued by the Padua Judicial Authority, at the home of the perpetrators of the fraud that allowed the recovery of the reported gold watch, as well as a second gold watch without serial number, various cases of valuable watches of a well-known brand, as well as more than a thousand counterfeit banknotes with the same serial number, a banknote counting device and a counterfeit banknote detector, watch sales receipts and other material deemed useful for the continuation of the investigations.
