Vicenza, six months of controls against drug dealing and degradation: 95 anti-drug operations and over 1.300 doses seized.

As the end of the year approaches, the Local Police of Vicenza has drawn up the balance of the activities carried out in the last six months of 2025 from the Judicial Police Operations Sector.

The data has been presented this morning under the command of Road Rescue Rescue, in the presence of mayor Giacomo Possamai, from the Commander Massimo Parolin and the commissioners Guido Guglielmi e Alessandro De Franciscis.

The report photographs a constant commitment on the front of fight against drug trafficking, from the contrast to urban decay and strengthening perceived safety, through the coordinated action of the Special Operations Unit, the anti-degradation squad, the canine unit and the internal judicial police sector.

«The local police is doing a great job "We asked for particular attention to the fight against drug dealing and the situations of degradation that affect the city's decorum. The results are there, despite the difficulties."

The mayor underlined, among the most evident results, the reduction of bivouacs, passed in recent years from approximately 50 to just over ten, also highlighting the importance of the work carried out in synergy with the social sector and the increase in reception places.

"We need to continue along this path," he added, "monitoring not only the station area, but also the neighborhoods."

Anti-drug operations: 95 operations and 8 arrests

In the last six months the anti-drug activity of the Special Operations Unit was carried out continuously, also thanks to the support of the canine unit and coordination with other police forces. The action focused in particular on fight against street drug dealing.

The numbers speak for themselves:

• 95 targeted operations, Of which 81 with positive results

• Circa 500 people identified, with 200 positive feedbacks in police databases

• 25 photodactyloscopic surveys for the verification of personal details

• Over 1.300 doses of narcotic substances seized

• 3.780 € in cash seized

• 8 arrests, in the context of 20 reports for drug dealing

To these are added 50 searches, investigations delegated by the judicial authority and 76 reports to the Prefectfor personal use of narcotics.

Anti-degradation team: 5.000 checks across the territory

At the same time, the anti-degradation team has intensified monitoring and prevention activities in the most sensitive areas of the city.

In the period considered, the following were carried out: approximately 5.000 targeted checks, with particular attention to the historic center and the most critical areas.

Furthermore, tests were carried out 107 services in the red zone established by the Prefect, which allowed for rapid interventions in response to reports of disturbances, suspicious presences and potentially risky situations. Overall, identified over 250 people.

The anti-degradation action has focused on monitoring the phenomenon of bivouac and on the harassing behaviour often linked to the use of narcotic substances and episodes of petty crime, contributing to improving the urban livabilityand the perception of safety.

The decisive support of the canine unit

A key role was played by theanti-drug canine unit, used both in the search and seizure operations of narcotic substances, and as prevention and deterrence tool.

The checks were concentrated above all in the areas frequented by young people, in the city ​​parks and in the areas close to the educational establishments, confirming the operational value of the unit as a concrete support for activities in the territory.

Safety and decorum as a priority

The six-month balance sheet confirms a strategy oriented towards strengthening real and perceived security, through widespread checks, prevention and constant monitoring of the territory.

A work which, as reiterated by the municipal administration, represents a solid foundation from which to proceed in the fight against drug dealing and urban decay.
