Castel d'Azzano explosion: Ramponi brothers under investigation. Massacre is suspected.

Yesterday, 14 October, the explosion of a farmhouse in Castel D'Azzano owned by the brothers Franco, Dino and Maria Luisa Ramponi caused the death of three carabinieri who were searching the building: Lieutenant Marco Piffari, Chief Brigadier Valerio Daprà, and Select Carabiniere Davide Bernardello, and injured thirteen other soldiers. According to the prosecutor's office, the Ramponi brothers are responsible for the accident.

The dynamics of what happened

The intervention of the Carabinieri had been arranged in the house of the Ramponi brothers, farmers and breeders in serious economic difficulties, to carry out a search in preparation for an eviction.  According to the investigators' reconstruction, the explosion was caused by a lit Molotov cocktail inside the house., where they were present at least five or six gas cylindersThe three tenants, in financial difficulty due to a mortgage, had already threatened in the past to blow up the house, while his sister, Maria Luisa, allegedly covered herself in bleach on that occasion. During yesterday's explosion, the woman, who probably lit the trigger, was seriously burned and is currently in pharmacological coma at the Verona hospital. The two brothers, however, were arrested, one immediately after the explosion, the other a few hours later in the surrounding fields.

The investigation and accusations

The investigation conducted by the Verona prosecutor Raffaele Tito confirmed the hypothesis of voluntary and premeditated homicide and does not exclude the crime of massacreThe exact dynamics will be clarified through images from the bodycams supplied to the military.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, October 16th. for the brothers Franco and Dino Ramponi. On the same day They will also perform autopsies on the three victims.

The situation of the Ramponi brothers

The three Ramponi brothers were born and raised in the farmhouse in Castel D'Azzano, and continued to live there even after their parents' death. The three were owners of some lands which had however been put up for auction and sold to pay off a mortgage which had left them only the house and a last field., where about thirty cows grazed they gave them the means of subsistence. La A search of the property had been called following some images obtained by drones showing Molotov cocktails placed on the roof of the house.
