Omegna: Stalks and harasses a 34-year-old woman, 66-year-old arrested

A woman, in a state of agitation, she requested the intervention of the military, reporting that she was being followed by a man who had already been reported to her for stalking. The victim, a 34 year old resident in the province, he had already filed a complaint with the Carabinieri of Omegna last December, when the man began to show her unrequited attention, showing up daily at her work location and following her in his car. The man had already been arrested in July of last year. Same methods, same conduct, but different “prey”. On that occasion his attentions had focused on a young woman who had reported being harassed at work and followed at the end of her shift. The man had first been reached by the warning and subsequently, continuing with his harassment, arrested in flagrante delicto. For these reasons the Court of Turin had the measure of Special Surveillance was ordered against him with the prohibition of approaching the victim and leaving the municipality of residence.

The man, obsessed with his current victim, showed up near the woman's workplace, who immediately recognized the individual she had already reported to the police. The woman, frightened and intimidated by that disturbing presence, decided to immediately call the police explaining the situation. Within a few minutes, a patrol from the Omegna station arrived on the scene and surprised the man outside his car a few meters from the woman's workplace.

When the military asked the 66-year-old what he was doing there, he gave an evasive answer but, reassured by the presence of the carabinieri, the woman left the workplace, exasperatedly confirming the real situation. Finally, it was found that he had violated the special surveillance requirements imposed by the Judge. he was taken to the barracks and finally declared under arrest. By order of the magistrate on duty, the man was subsequently placed under house arrest pending validation of the arrest still in progress.
