Verbania and Cremona: Two women saved from domestic violence thanks to the timely intervention of the State Police.
In Verbania, a thirty-year-old man was arrested for mistreatment and illegal possession of a weapon; in Cremona, a man was caught red-handed after being reported via the YouPol app, an increasingly effective tool for preventing gender-based violence.

Verbania
I police officers from the Omegna police station, together with those of the Verbania Police Headquarters, have a 30-year-old from Verbania was arrested, already known to the police, for mistreatment in the family and illegal possession of weapons. Around 19.00pm, one call the single emergency number 112 reported a violent quarrel in progress between the man and his partner, in the presence of the their 11-month-old daughterUpon arrival at the scene, the officers found the man in strong state of agitation, while he threatened his partner with death.
Despite attempts to calm him down, the man continued to utter violent phrases, under the terrified eyes of the woman. The partner, a 37-year-old from Omegna, in a clear state of fear and shock, told the officers that he was subjected to physical and psychological abuse for some time. He then confessed that his partner was keeping an undeclared gun in home.
During the house search, the officers found a 6.35 caliber Beretta pistol with the serial number erased and over 50 cartridges. The man was arrested and taken to prison by order of the Judicial Authority. The woman, after the medical care, was taken over by the “pink path”, dedicated to victims of violence.
Cremona
A Cremona, the police arrested a foreign citizen without a fixed abode for mistreatment, aggravated injuries and violation of domicileThe intervention started from a reporting via the YouPol app, which allowed us to identify in real time a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival of the Steering wheels, the noises had stopped, but the obvious signs on the woman's face they confirmed the violence they had just suffered.
According to the reconstruction, the man had threatened and beaten the companion, after having illegally occupied an apartment. Only thanks to the Police emergency response, the woman managed to free herself and call for help. The man was arrested red-handed and now it is in prison in Cremona, as ordered by the judge during the validation phase.
The episode demonstrates the effectiveness of the YouPol application, a tool created in 2017 for combat bullying and drug dealing, now also extended to reports of domestic violenceThe app, available for smartphones, tablets and computers, it allows to send messages and images directly to the police headquarters, even in shape anonymous, and is managed by the Territorial Control Service of the Central Anti-Crime Directorate of the State Police. A concrete example of digital proximity, which brings citizens closer to institutions and contributes to save lives.
