Udine: Road checks, drivers found to be more aware of the risks associated with driving under the influence of alcohol

The State Police of Udine, along a connecting route between the city of Udine and the motorway network, has implemented a detailed programme of road checks aimed at repressing the phenomenon of driving under the influence of alcohol. A little more than a month after the changes to the Highway Code came into force, drivers seem to be more cautious and responsible when driving, at least when it comes to the consumption of alcohol. The agents of the Highway Police, during the performance of control services, They found greater awareness among drivers of the risks associated with driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as greater information and knowledge.

The service was successful: Of the 80 drivers subjected to a breathalyser test, none exceeded the minimum threshold set by the Highway Code, or the threshold of 0,5 g/l. The device has also had a positive impact in terms of prevention and information: In fact, there have been many questions and curiosities from road users about the new legislation and the sanctions that can be incurred in the case of driving under the influence of alcohol or psychotropic substances, in the case of using a smartphone or not wearing a seat belt.

Well, in reminding everyone that on the road the human factor and the behaviour of each of us take on fundamental importance, the indication that seems to emerge from the analysis of the data from the first post-reform period is that road safety standards are all generally improving and above all that road safety has become a reason for daily comparison and discussion among people: we are really on the right track.
