Turin: Zeta Lab project approved to encourage youth participation in social and political life of the territories
Yesterday morning the City Council, on the proposal of Deputy Mayor Michela Favaro in agreement with Councilor Carlotta Salerno, approved the Zeta Lab project.
The City of Turin has joined the Piedmont Region's call for proposals aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 29 to promote inclusive participation in the social and political life of the territories, also with the aim of allowing them to contribute to the decision-making process and to be able to guide policies aimed at the target audience.
The Zeta Lab Project, nominated by the City as lead partner, aims to promote active citizenship, civic education, and youth leadership aimed at the effective participation of young people in local decision-making processes.
Already at the project application stage, the City of Turin has identified ANCI – Piemonte as a fundamental partner for the development of project actions because, as per the Statute, it is the body that represents the system of Piedmontese municipalities and its institutional purposes include the "dissemination of civic education to increase the participation of citizens in the administrative life of their Region".
Furthermore, for the implementation of some of the project activities and in particular of a training nature, the City intends to collaborate with the Polytechnic of Turin in the common interest of promoting actions that favor civic spirit, cohesion, active citizenship, and the youthful protagonism of future generations.
The Zeta Lab project actions include theoretical and practical workshops for over 15 beneficiaries, including administrators under 35 and young people aged 20/29, to introduce them to active citizenship paths; a specialized training course “protecting the future” for over 15 participants, including administrators under 35 and young people aged 20 to 29, aimed at illustrating participation techniques; podcasts related to the topics of the training course “imagining the future” and dissemination actions such as publication and distribution of the final report.
