Turin, “Safe Roads” operation at Barriera by the State Police. Over 1000 doses of cocaine and crack seized, 2 people arrested and over 78.000 euros seized
Two Senegalese citizens aged 41 and 20 were arrested in Turin by the State Police for possession of approximately 2 kg of crack and cocaine ready for sale.
The police officers of the Barriera State Police Station Milano, together with personnel from the Police Headquarters, Cabinet Office, and Army soldiers employed in the “Safe Roads” patrol, while patrolling the area of Piazza Foroni, they noticed a man in a tracksuit coming out of a building and, at the sight of them, hastily going back inside. The man, a 41-year-old Senegalese, claimed to have gone out only to play sports, but investigations revealed he was under house arrest and special surveillance.
His behavior further aroused the suspicions of the officers who found in his real apartment a young man who had given false personal details, attempting to pass himself off as a minor.
On a kitchen cabinet, they found a bag containing almost 200 grams of cocaine. In the bathroom, by removing the upper part of the washing machine, they found over a thousand doses of cocaine and crack, ready for sale, and material useful for packaging.
Inside two backpacks, a large sum of money in small denomination banknotes, for a total amount of over €78000.
The two Senegalese citizens were both arrested for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing; the forty-one-year-old also for evasion and the twenty-year-old also for having declared false personal details.
As part of the “Safe Roads” project, which involves the participation of law enforcement personnel and Italian Army soldiers, in the Barriera di Milano, from January 1 to September 30, 2024, the State Police carried out 387 services. Although the patrols have a primary purpose of deterrence, being aimed at preventing crimes and illicit conduct, in that period about thirty people were arrested and over sixty reported. Overall, more than 6300 people were checked.
