As part of the activities carried out by the State Police to protect minors, The Turin Cyber ​​Security Operations Center has concluded an important operation to combat online child pornography throughout the Piedmont region, with the arrest of 5 people in flagrante delicto and the reporting at large of two other suspects, against whom computer material used for the possession and distribution of illicit multimedia content was seized.

The activity was started by the National Center for the Fight against Online Child Pornography (CNCPO) following a report from the British non-profit organization Child Rescue Coalition (CRC) and continued undercover on peer-to-peer platforms, allowing the identification of the users of the accounts attributable to eight suspects, with whom files, images and videos of child pornography were shared and downloaded.

In particular, the execution of the search warrants issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Turin and carried out with the collaboration of the Operational Sections of Asti, Alessandria, Biella, Novara and Vercelli, led to the arrest in flagrante delicto of five individuals aged between 40 and 78, for possession of a large quantity of child pornography and for the illicit distribution of the same type of material online.

These had available child exploitation content of various kinds, sometimes relating to sexual violence and sexual acts with even very young children, as well as particularly cruel and violent material (“gore”).

Three of those arrested were taken to prison and two others were placed under house arrest pending validation hearings at the GIP offices of the ordinary courts with jurisdiction over the territory. A large amount of computer material was seized from those arrested, as well as from two other suspects reported at large, and will be the subject of further investigation.
