The State Police reported a 48-year-old Italian citizen for possession of explosive material and for the illegal manufacture and trade of the same. The investigation activity, carried out on the initiative of personnel from the Administrative and Social Police Division of the Police Headquarters, led to the identification of the man who illegally held pyrotechnic material in his condominium in Luserna San Giovanni.

The packages bore the name of a man, resident in the building, who was found to work as a cook in a penitentiary institution in the province. Among the pyrotechnic material present were 6 spherical bombs and two “Neapolitan” chains, particularly dangerous devices not only for the quantity of gunpowder used and for having been produced in unauthorised and uncertified places, but also because capable of producing what is called a “sympathetic explosion” which occurs when the explosion of a single device instantly triggers all the other nearby devices causing a mass explosion.
