Turin: 77 kg of cocaine transported between halves of meat, arrested

Two drivers arrested in Susa.

Turin: they were transporting 77 kg of cocaine between the halves of meat, arrested.

As part of the State Police's daily checks on international goods transport vehicles on motorways, two drivers of an articulated lorry were arrested in recent days after being found in possession of 77 kg of narcotics hidden inside the vehicle.

The officers of the Turin Highway Police - Susa motorway subsection, engaged in a check at the Salbertrand barrier on the A/32 Turin - Bardonecchia motorway, stopped an articulated lorry travelling towards Turin from the French border.

The attention of the operators was drawn by the extremely restless attitude of the drivers and by the behavior of the canine unit, engaged in the control device, which continued to target the semi-trailer.

The operators therefore decided to proceed with a more thorough inspection. Inside the semi-trailer, hidden among the hanging half-carcasses of meat and pallets of other slaughter products that appeared to have been loaded in Holland, 70 packages of cocaine-type narcotics were found for a total weight of approximately 77 kg, which were therefore seized.

As ascertained, the two Romanian drivers resident in Italy, aged 43 and 37 respectively, were arrested for international trafficking of large quantities of narcotics and transferred to the “Lo Russo e Cutugno” prison in Turin.
