Turin: Aiding and abetting and exploitation of prostitution, 5 precautionary measures carried out in prison
The State Police has executed five precautionary measures issued against the same number of suspects, seriously suspected of the crimes of robbery, aiding and abetting and exploitation of prostitution as well as aiding and abetting illegal immigration. The investigative activity began in May 2022, following a robbery committed by two Albanian brothers and a woman, also Albanian, forced by them into prostitution, to the detriment of a fellow Albanian prostitute, who operated in the same area of this capital.
The investigations, conducted by the Flying Squad of the Turin Police Headquarters, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Turin Court, allowed us to outline a network of young prostitutes and their exploiters, allowing us to outline the modus operandi and the main areas of impact on the city territory, essentially identified in the “Barriera Nizza” and “Madonna di Campagna” districts.
The young women, victims of repeated physical and psychological harassment by their exploiters, forced into prostitution even in precarious health conditions, were obliged to hand over all earnings to the same, who, in the meantime, squandered the money on alcohol and other vices. The state of psychological subjugation was so deep that it was not even minimally affected by the physical distance that frequently characterized these relationships, by virtue of the sentimental ties that constituted their foundation.
During the investigations, it was also brought to light that phenomenon of indoor prostitution, with the complicity of Italian citizens, who, having identified the most suitable accommodation for this activity, They signed the rental contracts in their own names, and then granted their use to Albanian women. For three of the nine recipients of the restrictive measure, all of Albanian nationality, the detention was carried out precautionary measure of detention in prison; for two Italian citizens, in the same context, the precautionary measure of prohibition of residence in the municipality of Turin was executed.
The criminal proceedings are in the preliminary investigation phase and therefore the presumption of innocence in favour of the accused applies until the final sentence; however, the elements collected by the investigators were deemed sufficient to constitute serious evidence of guilt against the recipients of the restrictive measures.
