Sofia Napolitano, the student who disappeared Monday in Turin, posted a video on social media: "I'm fine, I'm with my boyfriend."

On the morning of Wednesday 17 September, his mother, Patrizia Pignalosa, reported him missing after 48 hours of not hearing from him. Sofia responds with a video on social media in which she states “I'm fine, nothing happened to me, I'm with my boyfriend”.

The student, who disappeared on Monday after leaving home to attend a friend's exam, never returned home.

The announcement of his passing had also been made public by Federica Sciarelli's programme Who has seen? and it went viral on social media.

The video on social media confirms the voluntary departure.

With her post Sofia claims she wants to reassure everyone and explain that her departure was voluntary: "I wanted to leave, not forever, just for a year" Sofia declares, without explaining the reasons that led her to leave home but claiming that having left a letter to his parents in which these were examined. She also adds that, among the reasons she decided to leave the house where she lived with her parents, was the city where she grew up, where she no longer felt at ease.

“Him and his family” she also announces, pointing to her boyfriend, Dwight, a Colombian boy the young woman has been dating for a year and who is by her side throughout the video, “They are willing to support me, help me find a job and help me have a new experience.”

From Sofia's statements, it also seems that the parents, against the relationship with Dwight, had them removed the documents months before to prevent the young woman from leaving Italy with her boyfriend. The family would also have electronic devices seized to prevent the two from remaining in contact.

“Unfortunately my family has never looked favourably upon this union,” says the young woman. My family has been trying to stop us since he first arrived in Italy. There were serious arguments and he had to witness them. He was with me on the phone when they were hurting me both psychologically and physically. My only outlet was going out with him. he's not a bad boy, he's an angel".

The video ends with the girl's reassurances: "I am aware of what I am doing, perhaps it is not an easy thing to metabolise, but I am an adult and I can make this decision in the best possible way." She then adds: "If I made this decision it is also because I wasn't experiencing a simple situation at home" he says "I hope I'm making the right choice and, if not, I hope time will make me understand."
