Trento, anti-drug dealing activity: in the last few days Hyper and Boti found 700 grams of hashish, since the beginning of the year 39 seizures for almost 1,5 kg of drugs
As part of the surveillance services carried out by the Local Police Urban Security Team, actions to combat the phenomenon of drug dealing and consumption continue with particular attention not only to the area of Piazza Portella, Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore and Piazza Dante but also to other areas such as Piazza Mosna, Piedicastello, Le Albere and Gardolo.
Since the beginning of the year, the checks have led to the identification and reporting to the judicial authorities of three individuals in possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing. To these must be added the people reported for violation of the Consolidated Law on Narcotics during joint checks with the state police forces to which, by virtue of the now consolidated operational synergies, constant support is provided also by using the two canine units in service with the Corps. The infallible nose of the drug-sniffing dogs Boti and Hyper and their close relationship with their handlers have allowed them to identify drug dealers on several occasions.
Between January and March, 22 names of consumers were communicated to the Government Commissioner for the application of the sanctions provided for by the Consolidated Law on Narcotics. Some of these, caught inside the areas of particular relevance recently expanded by resolution of the City Council, have also been subjected to the provision of the order of expulsion (the so-called urban daspo).
In the first months of 2025 alone, 39 drug seizures were made, for over 1,3 kg of substance divided as follows: 1263,5 grams of hashish, 11,71 grams of cocaine and 32,02 grams of marijuana.
Of particular note was the activity carried out last Saturday when a Carabinieri patrol requested the intervention of the canine unit having noticed strange movements of individuals suspected of drug dealing activities near the Badia di San Lorenzo. The German Shepherd Boti was patrolling the area of the gardens adjacent to the church and found, hidden under a hedge and inside the ancient walls, over two hundred grams of a narcotic substance such as hashish already divided into doses five, ten and fifty grams, ready to be sold in the afternoon and evening.
In the following days Boti and Hyper allowed the recovery of over half a kilo of hashish, partly hidden under the arches of the Valsugana railway and partly thrown to the ground by the owners at the sight of the drug-sniffing dogs. An increasingly frequent circumstance since the dealers, as soon as they see the dogs, get rid of the substance to avoid the animals' signals and the consequent complaint.
