Trento invests in the State Police to ensure safety and security for its officers.

This morning in Trento, a significant step was taken in strengthening territorial security and improving the operational conditions of the State Police. The President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, and the Chief of Police – Director General of Public Security, Vittorio Pisani, signed two memoranda of understanding intended to have a tangible impact on the organization and quality of law enforcement presence in the province.

A signature that strengthens institutional cooperation

The signing of the protocols is part of a consolidated collaboration between the State and the Autonomous Province, attended by Isabella Fusiello, Government Commissioner for the Province of Trento, Nicola Zupo, Chief of Police for the provincial capital, and Raffaele De Col, Director General of the Province. The shared objective is twofold: to strengthen citizen safety and ensure adequate logistical and operational conditions for State Police personnel, who are required to operate in a complex and constantly evolving territorial context.

Fugatti: Safety and quality of life for those who wear the uniform

In his speech, President Fugatti emphasized the strategic value of the agreements, highlighting how they represent an investment not only in terms of security, but also in the quality of life for police officers. Particular emphasis was placed on the use of the former Panorama Hotel in Sardagna, a symbolic structure that will be transformed into a temporary guesthouse for officers arriving in Trentino. This solution is designed to promote not only immediate reception but also the opportunity to build stable professional and personal prospects in the region. At the same time, the second protocol looks to the future of the Trento Police Headquarters, with new operational, residential, and training spaces.

Pisani: Agent stability is a key factor in safety.

Police Chief Vittorio Pisani emphasized the national scope of the agreement, emphasizing how local institutions' support for officers' housing is a crucial factor in the effectiveness of the service. The opportunity to remain in a given area for extended periods allows officers to develop a thorough understanding of the social and criminal context, with direct implications for prevention and the quality of security operations. The Trentino model is a virtuous one, which promotes integration between administrations and state forces.

The operational point of view of the Trento Police Headquarters

Police Commissioner Nicola Zupo emphasized the operational challenges associated with the high mobility of personnel, with frequent assignments requiring ongoing training and induction. In this scenario, the availability of housing is a key factor in encouraging officers to remain. Zupo also highlighted the human aspect of welcoming them, noting that many young officers arrive in Trento leaving behind families and loved ones, suddenly finding themselves in unfamiliar territory. Offering them a dignified place to live also strengthens their sense of belonging.

The support of the Prefecture and the value of continuity

The importance of the initiative was also reiterated by Prefect Isabella Fusiello, who emphasized the importance of ensuring the continuity and stability of the police presence in the area. This is essential for building relationships of trust with the community and ensuring effective and constant public safety.

The new housing building and shooting range at the Police Headquarters

The first memorandum of understanding concerns the design and construction of a new apartment building within the Viale Verona complex, home to the Trento Police Headquarters. The project also includes the construction of a shooting range suitable for long-range weapons, intended for training the State Police and the Trentino Forestry Corps, as well as specific interventions to enhance the building's passive security systems. This investment is aimed at strengthening the security forces' operational and training capabilities.

The former Panorama Hotel, a temporary guesthouse for over 40 agents

The second protocol governs the three-year free loan of the former Hotel Panorama in Sardagna, owned by the Autonomous Province of Trento. The facility will house collective housing for State Police personnel prior to the construction of the new building on Viale Verona. The building is currently undergoing renovations, scheduled for completion by January 2026. The total investment amounts to €200 and will provide at least 40 beds in single and double rooms, equipped with bathrooms and shared spaces.

A journey that began over twenty years ago

The agreements signed today build on a collaboration that began with the 2002 agreement, updated in 2008, for the rationalization of state and provincial offices in the city of Trento. This process has already led to the construction of the current Police Headquarters in the Viale Verona complex, operational since 2006, and continues with new investments aimed at combining security, operational efficiency, and attention to the people who ensure the protection of citizens every day.
