Mesagne: Territory checks, 2 arrests for drug possession and dealing

The State Police carried out a search in Mesagneeffective prevention and repression of crimes, with an increase in security devices, coordinated by Police Chief Giampietro Lionetti. The activity falls within the scope of extraordinary territorial control services, strongly desired in recent months by the Police Chief and shared by the Prefect of the Province of Brindisi Luigi Carnevale and by the provincial Commanders of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, to ensure a more significant presence of law enforcement in the province.

In order to prevent the commission of illegal actions, the officers of the Police Headquarters, the Mesagne Police Station, the Highway Police and the dog unit of the Border Police, together with their colleagues from the Arma and the Guardia di Finanza, with the collaboration of the ASL and the Agency of Monopolies and Customs, have 17 commercial activities checked and 264 people identified. Following the checks on commercial establishments, 8 fines were imposed for administrative offences and one for criminal offence.

During the 142 vehicles checked, 4 traffic code fines were contested due to lack of insurance and MOT. They were also carried out house searches, at the end of which two Mesagne residents were arrested for the crime of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

Having heard the Judicial Authority, one was transferred to the Brindisi prison, because he was found in possession of approximately 734 grams of hashish, as well as precision scales and various materials useful for packaging the substance in doses; the other, found in possession of 3 doses of cocaine, material used for packaging the doses, as well as a significant sum of money in banknotes of various denominations and a semi-automatic blank-shooting pistol, at the end of the activities, he was released.
