Brindisi: Drug dealing in nightlife venues, the Police Commissioner issues 5 bans on access to urban centers

To prevent and combat deviant behavior in urban areas, the Police Chief of Brindisi Giampietro Lionetti has adopted 5 measures of Prohibition of Access to Urban Centers (so-called DACUr.), against those who, over the last three years, have been reported or convicted, even with a non-final sentence, for drug dealing.

The interdictory measures arise from investigations conducted by the State Police, at the end of which, On February 7th, four individuals were arrested pursuant to a house arrest precautionary custody order, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Brindisi, as they are seriously suspected of having sold drugs inside and near the most popular places in the historic centre of Brindisi.

A similar measure, for the same conduct, was notified to another person, already detained.

At the end of the investigative activity carried out by the police officers of the Anti-Crime Division, who ascertained the social dangerousness of the aforementioned subjects, on the basis of the investigative evidence provided by the Flying Squad, The Police Chief has ordered a ban on access and loitering in the immediate vicinity of certain public places identified based on the places where the crimes were committed, as well as those located in specific areas of the historic centre, for a period of five years..
