San Vito dei Normanni: extraordinary checks by the Carabinieri against car thefts, two arrests

Within the services arranged by the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Brindisi aimed at curbing the unfortunate ultra-provincial phenomenon of car thefts, with the use of numerous patrols with widespread action throughout the territory, with tight controls and targeted operations, The Carabinieri of the San Vito dei Normanni Station arrested in flagrante delicto:

• a man, subjected to the alternative measure of probation to social services, because he was caught inside a difficult-to-access garage while he was cutting into several parts the body of a car stolen in Taranto a few days earlier, so as to hinder the identification of its criminal origin. The sectioned body and the tools used for this purpose were seized; the Carabinieri, from the analysis of the personal effects found inside the vehicle, were able to trace the owner;
• a man, caught in San Vito dei Normanni, in violation of the obligations inherent to the preventive measure of special surveillance of Public Security with the obligation to reside in another municipality in the province. The same person was also reported because he was on board a tow truck belonging to a well-known Brindisi-based vehicle and ferrous material recovery company, while he was transporting spare parts for cars that had been stolen; the tow truck was impounded.

Those arrested, as ordered by the Judicial Authority, were subjected to house arrest at their respective homes.

This service, which prevented the stolen material from being reintroduced into the illegal market, is part of the activities to combat the hateful phenomenon of car thefts that the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Brindisi is carrying out throughout the territory.
