Teramo: double arrest for improper robbery and mistreatment in the family

In recent days, the Carabinieri of the Alba Adriatica Station have made a double arrest for different facts. The precautionary custody measures in prison were ordered by the GIP of the Court of Teramo at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office.

A twenty-seven-year-old man was arrested and presumed responsible for the crime of improper robbery. The crime occurred on 30 December 2024 in Ancarano, when a couple had left their car parked on the public road. Shortly after, a man broke the car window and stole a bag containing approximately €1.500 in cash. The robbed victims who were nearby and saw what had happened tried to stop the man who, seeing himself discovered, pushed the two, making them fall to the ground and making him escape. The unfortunate victims, due to the fall, had to seek medical care at the Sant'Omero hospital, who judged they would be curable in 10 days. The Carabinieri were able to identify the alleged perpetrator following the testimonies collected on site and the footage from the cameras present at the scene of the crime. The arrested man was taken to the Teramo prison.

The other arrest was made against a thirty-year-old presumed responsible for the crime of mistreatment in the family and injuries towards his partner. The facts date back to the end of January when the woman turned to the police following an assault perpetrated by her partner and for which she had to seek treatment from the health workers at the Sant'Omero Hospital who judged her curable in 8 days. Following this, the so-called "Red Code" was activated, the subsequent investigations of which led to the alleged perpetrator being sent to prison.

The Provincial Carabinieri Command of Teramo, as well as the entire Institution, have always been at the side of abused women. At the barracks in Teramo, Alba Adriatica and Giulianova there are several military personnel including female personnel who have attended important and selective courses at the ISTI (Istituto Superiore Tecniche Investigative), organized by the General Command of the Carabinieri and held by Officers and NCOs of the RACIS (Raggruppamento Carabinieri Investigazioni Scientifiche), Magistrates, University Professors, Health Professionals (Psychiatrists, psychologists, etc.), which have allowed the Carabinieri, already endowed with a character open to dialogue and listening, to specialize in the delicate and important sector. Furthermore, following a memorandum of understanding between the Carabinieri and the Soroptimist International Association of Italy, aimed at further strengthening institutional action in the sector of combating gender violence, through the setting up, within the barracks of the Carabinieri, of rooms suitable for the protected listening of vulnerable victims and called "A room of one's own". One of these spaces was created, by the Soroptimist Club of Teramo, right at the headquarters of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Teramo. Furthermore, in this barracks, as a symbolic gesture, a “The Red Bench”, where the phrase “Love is never violence” is written.
