Taranto: Continuous extortion requests to the owner of some apartments, 29-year-old criminal arrested
The State Police has executed a precautionary custody order at the request of the Taranto Prosecutor's Office in against a 29-year-old Taranto criminal, believed to be responsible for the crime of aggravated extortion. The investigations by the men of the Flying Squad, coordinated by the Taranto Prosecutor's Office, began following the complaint of the owner of some apartments in a building located in the city center who had been the victim of a young extortionist for some time.
According to the victim, the alleged perpetrator allegedly made continuous requests for money with the threat of setting fire to the properties he owned if these requests were not met within a short time. The owner of the apartments over the course of five months he allegedly paid 2.200 euros in cash on several occasions. The story ended last January when the 29-year-old, not receiving a response to yet another request for money, allegedly set fire to an apartment, resulting in damage to the entire condominium.
Moreover, the recipient of the current measure, A few months later, he was arrested because he was presumed responsible for the crime of drug dealing and, after a few months of detention in prison, even during house arrest he resumed with a certain insistence the extortion requests towards the victim, using the telephone numbers of consenting friends and relatives and threatening to damage the apartments, which had also recently been renovated.
Given the significant gravity of the criminal episodes and the evident danger of repetition of the crimes, accentuated by the violent personality of the alleged extortionist, the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Court of Taranto, accepting the proposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, has ordered the measure of pre-trial detention in prison carried out by the Flying Squad.
