The State Police has identified and reported at large a 62-year-old man resident in the municipality of Manduria believed to be the presumed responsible for the crime of animal cruelty.
The man is believed to have been the perpetrator of the car crash of “Ettore”, who has now become the Neighborhood Dog of the Municipality of Uggiano Montefusco.
The video of the accident was shared on social media, causing great displeasure among citizens and strong condemnation of the incident, even from associations dedicated to animal protection.
Thanks to constant monitoring of the web, the police officers of the Manduria Police Station were able to trace the white SUV that allegedly hit the poor animal.
The owner of the vehicle, a few hours after the accident, was tracked down at his home and reported at large.
