The State Police, as part of periodic checks aimed at combating the phenomenon of illegal disposal of hazardous waste and monitoring the custody activities of vehicles without the required authorizations required by law, have identified an area designated for judicial custody and roadside assistance activities.
The personnel of the Taranto Highway Police Section proceeded with the investigations, during which numerous environmental violations and numerous vehicles were reportedly detected, some in an evident state of abandonment, others visibly damaged and burned, all lacking measures to avoid spills of fluids or other potentially polluting substances which, given the state of the vehicles themselves and considering the conditions of the ground, would have constituted a concrete source of pollution of the environmental matrices.
They were found, piled up in large quantities, materials of various kinds as well as motor vehicles, motorcycles, mechanical parts and pieces of their bodywork, mixed together and placed on the ground without functional arrangements for the recovery and conveyance of substances that could easily spill onto the ground.
The policemen at the end of all the investigations They proceeded against the owner of the illegal activity, a 56-year-old, for alleged violations of the special laws that regulate the management of hazardous waste.
The same was reported at liberty because he was presumed responsible for numerous environmental crimes, or for having allegedly carried out uncontrolled waste storage activities without the required authorization; for the alleged failure to comply with the provisions contained in the authorizations with which he carried out the activity of judicial custodian at the time of the facts as well as the alleged lack of the requirements and conditions required for registrations or communications and finally for having allegedly carried out a discharge of water, industrial waste, on the ground and in the subsoil, without the required authorization;
The police therefore proceeded to the criminal seizure of the area and of 82 vehicles piled up in a disorderly manner on the ground. At the time of the criminal seizure, seals were placed along the perimeter of the area.
