Taranto: more than 600 tires stacked illegally, the State Police reports the business owner.

As part of the periodic checks aimed at combating the phenomenon of illegal disposal of hazardous waste and monitoring activities dedicated to the automotive sector that do not have the required authorizations required by law, the State Police checked a tire dealer based in the Municipality of Pulsano.

During the inspection, the police officers of the Taranto Highway Police Section identified approximately 600 used tires, piled up in a completely uncontrolled manner and without any regulatory requirements for storage, recovery and disposal.

The material was deposited on public land, without any precautions to avoid spills of fluids or other potentially polluting substances which, given the deteriorated state of the tyres, would have constituted a concrete source of environmental pollution.

The owner of the business was reported to the competent authorities for having allegedly illegally managed the waste produced by the tire dealer's business by not observing any safety and fire prevention measures, by disposing of the used tires in an unauthorized area, neglecting the high environmental and health risk that the burning of the tires could have caused.
The police proceeded with the criminal seizure of the area of all the used tires by placing the relevant seals along the perimeter of the area.
