Taranto: Chinese restaurant suspended, around 200 kg of food seized

The State Police suspends the activity of a Chinese restaurant in the Italia-Montegranaro district of Taranto, following several checks carried out by the Police of the Administrative Squad, together with personnel from the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service (SIAN) of the ASL of Taranto, on the hospitality activities of the city.

With the beginning of the new year, the State Police continued to carry out checks on commercial establishments in order to verify compliance with the rules and provisions of the law by those engaged in the restaurant and tourist reception business.

The Police Officers of the Administrative Squad, together with personnel from the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service (SIAN) of the ASL of Taranto, checked a Chinese restaurant in the Italia-Montegranaro neighborhood.

From a careful survey of the state of the premises, the following were found: serious hygienic-sanitary deficiencies were found in the premises and equipment, in addition to the discovery of food in poor condition, both of animal and plant origin, without any traceability document, improperly frozen and stored inside cold rooms in very poor hygienic conditions. The poorly preserved food products, approximately 200 kg of food, were seized, while the owner of the commercial establishment was given administrative fines amounting to 4 thousand euros.

The director of SIAN has ordered the immediate suspension of catering activities until suitable hygienic-sanitary and structural conditions are restored.

The police officers of the Administrative Squad also carried out further checks at various accommodation facilities in the city.

Against two people, it was found without authorization to carry out the activity, it was arrangedimmediate cessation and the imposition of an administrative penalty.

Furthermore, two other managers were reported to the Judicial Authority as they had not complied with the obligation required by law to inform the Public Security Authority upon the arrival of people staying in their own facility, failing to register those present in clear violation of the provisions of the Consolidated Law on Public Safety.

Finally, inside another accommodation facility, there were two people were identified: a non-EU citizen found to be illegal in the territory and therefore subject to expulsion and an Italian citizen subject to a prison order who was taken to the Taranto prison.
