Solarino: 25-year-old arrested for domestic abuse, extortion and robbery

The Carabinieri of Solarino arrested a 25-year-old of Romanian origin, for mistreatment in the family, extortion and robbery, in execution of the order of precautionary custody in prison issued by the Court of Syracuse. The man, with a criminal record for crimes against the person, is being investigated for having repeatedly committed psychological abuse against his 51-year-old mother and cohabitant.

The woman had already reported her son in June 2023 who, on several occasions, had engaged in violent, insulting and harassing behavior towards him. The investigations of the Carabinieri of the Solarino Station had led to the issuing of the precautionary measure against the young man of removal from the family home and the prohibition of approaching the offended person.

In August 2023, due to repeated violations of the provisions imposed on him, the Court of Syracuse had issued an order for imprisonment and subsequent conviction.

Released from prison in October 2023, shortly after, the man began to engage in harassing behavior against his mother again., with insistent requests for money, making the woman's living conditions miserable and causing her serious suffering. On several occasions, even at night, he would reach his mother while she was carrying out her work of caring for the elderly, forcing her to hand over money with death threats.

The activities of the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Syracuse, resulting from the further complaint presented by the now desperate woman, have allowed us to ascertain that the 25-year-old, often under the influence of narcotics, showed indifference towards the judicial measures against him, expressing aggression and violence, in an escalation of behavior culminating in a direct death threat to his mother.

The Court of Syracuse therefore ordered the man to be held in prison and was sent to the “Cavadonna” prison in Syracuse.
