Syracuse, checks in agriculture on gangmastering: two irregular agricultural companies identified
To combat illegal work and gangmastering, the Carabinieri carried out several checks on agricultural companies and identified two irregular companies and one worker was illegal and issued high administrative sanctions for a total of €3.920,00 and imposed fines for an amount of € 51.258,21.

This time the Carabinieri checks of the Inspectorate Unit of the Labour of the capital of Syracuse, in synergy with the territorial army, they affected agricultural companies of the Sicilian capital and province for the fight against the sad phenomenon of gangmastering e the abuse of undeclared work, arising from the state of need on the part of some weaker groups of citizens, as part of the broader national plan for the fight against undeclared work arranged at central level.
To end up under the inspection activity of the Carabinieri specialized in the protection of work, are there were 2 companies in the agricultural sector, results irregular; among the most recurring violations in the field of work, the following were detected:
• lack of training of workers;
• lack of health surveillance;
• failure to implement necessary first aid measures;
• lack of health and safety requirements in the workplace.
It was confirmed during the inspection also the presence of 1 illegal non-EU worker out of a total of 7 checked.
Furthermore, they were high administrative sanctions for a total of €3.920,00 and fines amounting to €51.258,21 were imposed.
It has been done, in addition to referral to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the entrepreneurs owning the companies, also to impose the Measure suspending the entrepreneurial activity for an amount of € 2.500,00, preventing – thus – to continue working in illegal circumstances in the work positions of its employees.
