CEV: True Volleyball, Milano and Perugia on the pitch tonight
Zawiercie-Allianz Milano | Vero Volley-Giesen | Perugia-Ankara
CEV: True Volleyball, Milano and Perugia on the field tonight.
The Volleyball Champions League is heading towards the last match of the group stage and the three Italian teams will play for direct passage to the quarterfinals. The Allianz Milano will play at 18.00 away against the Polish team Zawiercie, Vero Volley will host the German team Giesen in Monza at 18.30, while Perugia will play at home against Halkbank Ankara at 20.45.
Towards Zawiercie-Allianz Milano
Both teams are already assured of the playoffs, but the stakes remain high: the winner will secure first place in the group, guaranteeing direct access to the quarterfinals. Zawiercie currently leads the standings with 13 points, followed by Allianz Milano at 11 points. The first leg, played at Milano, was won in a tie-break by the Poles. To secure the top spot and thus avoid the playoffs, coach Piazza's team will have to win with a clear score of 3-1 or 3-0.
Towards Vero Volley Monza-Giesen
The Monza team currently leads the group with 10 points, followed by Olympiacos who have won 11 points, but with one less win. A victory against Giesen, therefore, would guarantee direct access to the quarterfinals for Vero Volley. The Germans, at the moment, are last in the standings with four points, but they are coming off a victory on the last day and in the first leg, coach Eccheli's team won only in the tie-break.
Towards Perugia-Halkbank Ankara
Perugia dominated Group D, winning all matches without losing a set and totaling 15 points in the 5 matches. The Umbrian team has already secured first place and direct access to the quarterfinals. Ankara is in second place with 9 points and wants to avenge the first leg, lost 3-0, to try to qualify for the playoffs. Perugia will be able to give space to the less used players, but with the goal of remaining undefeated.
