Verona, 100 days left until the Giro d'Italia and the Arena is tinged with pink

The monument will be the scene of the final catwalk

Verona, a stylized racing bicycle, the writing “Giro d'Italia” and the Arena all pink. 100 days after the start of the one hundred and fifth edition, Verona is participating in the "Italia in Rosa" initiative together with all the other cities crossed by the stage race, and yesterday evening it lit up a characteristic monument.

Verona has chosen the Arena which on May 29th, for the fifth time, will be the scene of the final catwalk of the Giro, again this year with a time trial stage, as in 1981, 1984, 2010 and 2019. And on May 29th 2022, day of arrival after twenty stages, the same formula as 2019 will most likely be proposed again, that is, an individual time trial starting from Veronafiere, climbing the Torricelle and arriving in Piazza Bra on the Liston, then entering the amphitheatre, to complete a race that is 3410,3 meters long, 6 km starting on May XNUMXth from Budapest, Hungary.

The final stage of the 2022 Giro was officially presented in Verona on 11 November 2021 at the Signorvino wine shop in Valpolicella. The mayor Federico Sboarina, the Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies Stefano Patuanelli, the president of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia, the president of Rcs MediaGroup Urbano Cairo, the CEO of Rcs Sport Paolo Bellino, the director of the Giro d'Italia Mauro Vegni, the director of La Gazzetta dello Sport Stefano Barigelli, the president of the Italian Cycling Federation Cordiano Dagnoni and the starred chef Giancarlo Perbellini who, in addition to a tasting of Italian dishes and wines, dedicated a plate of pasta and bean ravioli served with radicchio and chestnuts, with tomato emulsion and Monte Veronese to the arrival of the Giro. On that occasion, the Specialissima Giro 105 was also presented, the racing bike produced by Bianchi in 105 examples, like the number of editions of the event.
The Arena was lit up in pink last night in Piazza Bra by the mayor Federico Sboarina and the sports councilor Filippo Rando. The lighting ceremony was carried out with the contribution of the Agsm-Aim group.
“This moment, as well as making us proud and satisfied, highlights to us once again how the Arena stage is unique and unrepeatable in any other city – said Mayor Sboarina -. After three years the Giro ends once again in Verona, the fifth time in total, second only to Milano. For this I also thank the president of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia, because the stages that will take place in the region are the result of his work. May 29th, the day of arrival, will be a day of great sport, but also an international showcase for the whole city, given the large following the event has."

“Verona, with the arrival of the Giro d'Italia, once again proves itself to be the international capital of sport – stated councilor Filippo Rando -. We are working with the municipal police and the Sports Office to be ready. Last year's experience with the Ravenna-Verona stage was undoubtedly an excellent training ground, as was the arrival of the Giro in 2019. All the professionals and the Administration are working hard, and this event does not that fills the breasts of the Veronese with pride."
