Mattia Furlani's Gold

Mattia Furlani wins gold in the long jump at the World Indoor Championships.

Yesterday, Sunday 24 March, Mattia Furlani won gold in the long jump final at the Indoor World Championships. After two silver medals at the European Championships in Rome and the indoor championships in Apeldoorn, the Italian athlete born in 2005 conquers the World with his 8.30 metres.

The final

In China, in Nanjing, Furlani established himself among the greats. The final was Olympic-level, with eight athletes capable of clearing the 8-meter mark. Mattia started with a no jump, but did not lose his composure, not even in front of the super 8.28 of the Jamaican Wayne Pinnock. The Italian concentrated and on his second attempt showed off his best jump, a flight that took him to 8.30 meters. It was the jump that put him in front of everyone.

In the next jumps, the Jamaican Pinnock is the one who comes closest, but his 8.29 meters are worth the silver. In third place, instead, came the Australian Adcock with its 8.28 meters.

Three athletes of enormous level, separated by only 2 cm, who demonstrate even more the value of this Final.

A final between champions, in which Mattia Furlani, with his leap from 8.30 meters, has conquered the gold of the King of the World.
