Serie A, the results: Genoa leap, Venice-Verona draw.
The 22nd day of the championship ends with a 1-1 draw between Venezia and Verona and a 2-0 victory for Genoa over Monza.
The Biancorossi are increasingly last, with a seven-way battle for the other two positions in the relegation zone.
Venice-Verona 1-1
The first half starts at a high pace, but there are only two chances. Stankovic immediately saves Venezia with an excellent save with his foot on Serdar's shot in the 11th minute. In the 28th minute the home team is good at taking advantage of the only ball to take the lead 1-0 with the first goal by former Napoli player Zerbin.
Even in the second half there was little excitement. Ghilardi tried to equalize in the 61st minute on a corner, but all alone he headed it wide. The equalizer came in the 76th minute when Tchatchoua converted Sarr's assist into a goal. In the 85th minute Busio had a golden opportunity to give Di Francesco the three points, but his volley was put out for a corner by Montipò. It ended 1-1.
A point each that is of little use to both Venezia and Verona, both remaining in a complicated situation.
The Venetians, second to last in the standings, will play in Udine, while Zanetti's team, third to last with 20 points, will face last-place Monza away.
Genoa-Monza 2-0
In the first half, the first big chance is created by Monza with a diagonal shot by Kyriakopulos that goes out by a whisker in the 16th minute. Grifone responds in the 28th minute with a header by Pinamonti that forces Turati to work. A minute later, it's a penalty for Genoa, but Pinamonti is hypnotized by Turati who parries it. In the 37th minute, Miretti has the ball for the lead, but Izzo sacrifices himself and sends it to the corner.
In the second half the rossoblù enter with the same hunger and Miretti hits the crossbar again in the 46th minute. The goal of the deserved advantage for the home team arrives in the 61st minute with a header by De Winter. Monza is non-existent and in the 84th minute the 2-0 arrives signed by Vasquez, again with a header. In the 92nd minute Genoa risks flooding again with De Winter, but this time his header is put in the corner by Turati. It ends 2-0.
Vieira's team couldn't make a mistake and they didn't. Genoa makes a big leap forward and joins the Torino-Udinese duo at 26 points.
Bocchetti's team also had to make no mistakes, but except for Turati (the best), the others never took the field. The next match against Verona feels like the last train to hope for the salvation miracle.
