Serie A: Matchday 23 Report
The update on the fight for the Scudetto and the relegation zone
Serie A: Matchday 23 report.
This twenty-third day of the championship has given us no clues regarding the race for the Scudetto; the distances between Napoli, Inter and Atalanta have remained the same as last week. As for the fight for salvation, Monza has failed to get points with Verona and seems increasingly destined for Serie B.
One point each for the top three
Napoli and Inter are certainly the favourites for the title, with behind them theAtalanta which however cannot keep up the same pace. The three teams, in this championship matchday, have obtained three draws, all 1-1, but all arrived in different ways. Starting from the team of Gasperini, the home draw with Torino certainly cannot satisfy; it could have been the perfect opportunity to forcefully return to close on Inter, but the penalty missed by Retegui in the 75th minute seems to have completely ruined the dream of the Scudetto. Different instead for the team of Inzaghi who obtained a last-gasp draw in the derby of Milano. An important draw because this season they had always lost against the Rossoneri and also because after hitting 3 posts and having two goals disallowed, it is never easy to stay in the game until the end. A point that allowed the Nerazzurri to remain 3 points behind Napoli, but with this Thursday's match against Fiorentina to make up. Opposite fortunes for the team of Antonio Conte, who were leading 0-1 away, were caught up in the last minute by Roma's equaliser. For the Azzurri, a perfect machine up to this point, it was a golden opportunity to extend their leadInter and try to escape for the scudetto, but Angelino has put a spoke in the wheels. It is still too early to understand who will win this Serie A. At the moment the standings see: Napoli first with 54 points, followed by Inter with 51 points and a game in hand, Atalanta closes with 47 points.
Fearful fight for salvation
Understanding who will win the Scudetto is certainly complicated at the moment, but it is even more difficult to understand who will be able to save themselves. The usual seven teams are competing for places in the next Serie A, all grouped within a few points. With the defeat on the last day, the Monza, last with 13 points. The Venice, just above 16 points, can still hope, but to do so it must certainly change gear. In third-last place, with the Parma at 20 points, the usual little group begins to form. Just above, we find together Empoli e Cagliari at 21 points, ready to try to overtake Como to 22 points. Verona e Lecce, instead, thanks to the fundamental victories of the last day, they both brought themselves to 23 points, but they certainly cannot rest easy. A fight for salvation that will accompany us until the last day, giving us emotions and heart-stopping matches, but which will inevitably see three teams abandon our Serie A.
