Serie A: Matchday 22 report
Napoli-Inter Scudetto battle | Seven for salvation
Serie A: Matchday 22 report.
There are still many games left until the end of the championship, 16 to be exact, but this twenty-second day has begun to give us some clues about possible future scenarios.
Napoli and Inter never stop winning, for the relegation zone, everyone can save themselves.
Napoli vs Inter what a duel
The fight for the Scudetto seems to belong more and more to the teams of Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi, with Atalanta further behind but still lurking.
The Azzurri are coming off two real shows of strength, winning in a comeback both in Bergamo and at home against Juventus. Victories that allow Napoli to remain at +3 on Inter, who however must recover the match with Fiorentina. The Nerazzurri, on the other hand, despite their commitments in the Champions League, are keeping pace with the first, also thanks to the long roster that they can exploit. The next three matchdays could better outline who of the two will be the favorite. Napoli will meet Roma, Udinese and Lazio respectively, while Inter will face Milan, Fiorentina and Juventus.
A place for the Champions zone
The UEFA ranking currently says that there are four places available to qualify for the next Champions League. The first three (Napoli, Inter, Atalanta) seem almost certain, barring any sensational twists. It is therefore a fight for fourth place, currently occupied by Lazio with 39 points, two more than Juventus. The Biancocelesti in their latest league games have not been as exciting as in the Europa League, where they secured the round of XNUMX. In the next two matchdays they will face Cagliari and Monza who need to save themselves. The Bianconeri will try to get two consecutive victories (happened only twice in this championship) against Empoli and Como, who are also looking for salvation points.
Watch out for Fiorentina (36 points), Milan (34 points) and Bologna (34 points), all three with a game in hand.
Serie B, two places for seven teams
Monza is last with 13 points and after the defeat against Genoa it seems condemned to Serie B. In the penultimate place we find Venezia with 16 points that to save itself must hope for the missteps of the trio just above. The trio composed of Lecce, Verona and Parma all at 20 points. One point above we find Cagliari and Empoli. Como closes with 22 points and cannot be at all calm.
The 23rd matchday of Serie A will begin with two big relegation clashes: Parma-Lecce on Friday at 20.45 and Monza-Verona on Saturday at 15.00.
