Serie A: Matchday 24 Report

The race for the Scudetto | The Champions League zone | The fight for salvation

Serie A: Matchday 24 report.

The 24th day of the championship has just ended; the fight for the scudetto between Napoli and Inter is getting more and more heated, with Atalanta always lurking, while the conquest of salvation is starting to take shape game by game. The race to obtain a place in the next edition of the Champions League, which currently involves five teams, is also increasingly interesting.

Duel between Napoli and Inter, but watch out for Atalanta

The team of Antonio Conte had to face a very organized Udinese, who put them in difficulty. With the draw obtained, Napoli moved to 55 points and was unable to maintain the +3 advantage over Inter. The team of Simone Inzaghi, instead, immediately made up for Thursday's defeat, beating Fiorentina 2-1 at home and moving to 54 points, just one less than the Neapolitans. But be careful, for those who believe that the fight for the Scudetto belongs only to Napoli and Inter, they are wrong. Atalanta with the 1-5 victory on the pitch of Verona reached 50 points and did so with a performance worthy of a Goddess, remaining lurking in third place at -5 from the top.

Furthermore, in the next championship matchday, Napoli and Inter will be involved in two complicated away matches, respectively against Lazio and Juventus. Atalanta, on the other hand, will host Cagliari at the Gewiss Stadium, a match that on paper is more affordable than its competitors, which could in fact bring the team much closer Gasperini in the first two positions.

It's a five-way race for the Champions League

La Lazio won by a landslide at home and maintained a solid fourth place alone with 45 points, awaiting the challenge with Napoli. Next up is Juventus, in fifth place with 43 points, which was not convincing against Como, but won and in the end that's what counts. Fiorentina beat Inter in the recovery of the 14th day, moving to 42 points; then lost to Inter on the last day, remaining at 42 points. Further behind we find Milan e Bologna both at 38 points, but both with a game less; it's a shame that the recovery match is Bologna-Milan and the three points, if that happens, will be obtained by only one of the two.

The 25th day of the championship will see two big matches: Lazio-Napoli and Juventus-Inter.

Monza without hope, Venice increasingly at risk

The fight for salvation sees the Monza from our Serie A. At the Olimpico against Lazio it was certainly not an easy away game, but conceding five goals when your only goal is to save yourself is certainly not a good sign. The red and white management has fired mister Bocchetti and called back to the bench In this, with the task of remedying the situation immediately, starting from the next match against Lecce. Even the Venice of Di Francesco is at risk, currently second to last with 16 points. The green and gold have not won in seven games and their next opponent will be Genoa; a match that could determine the fate of the lagoon team. In third to last place we find Parma that does not budge from 20 points; in the last five games (including four direct clashes for salvation) Pecchia's team has obtained only one point. Empoli, Como and Verona all lose and remain close to the relegation zone; Lecce, Cagliari and Genoa take advantage and try to escape.

The 25th day of the championship will see two important challenges for salvation: Monza-Lecce and Genoa-Venezia.
