Euro 2024, tribute to Beckenbauer during the opening ceremony

Before Germany-Scotland

Euro 2024, tribute to Beckenbauer during the opening ceremony.

With the challenge between Germany e Scotland, the curtain rose on Euro 2024.

Perfect opportunity to pay homage French Beckenbauer, legend of the German national team and Bayern Munich, passed away on January 7 at the age of 78.

La Uefa announced that on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the tournament, which will be played entirely in Germany, he would have been remembered who was an influential figure for German football, and not only, in the twentieth century.

The captains of the German national teams who became European champions in 1980 and 1996, Bernard Dietz and Jürgen Klinsmann, were accompanied by Beckenbauer's wife, Heidi, while they brought the trophy that will be awarded to the winners of Euro 2024 at the end of the final, scheduled in Berlin on 14 July.

A gesture to remember the three triumphs at the European Championships for Germany, which also won the cup in 1972 with Beckenbauer as captain.
