Serie A: Juventus triumphs 3-0 over Verona and moves to the top of the table.
Verona – Juventus: 0-3
Juventus triumphed with a clear 3-0 against Hellas Verona on the second day of the 2024-2025 Serie A, consolidating its position at the top of the standings. The match, played at the Bentegodi stadium, saw the Bianconeri prevail thanks to a brace from Dusan Vlahovic and a goal from Savona, demonstrating clear superiority in both the offensive and defensive phases.
In the first half, Juventus broke the deadlock in the 28th minute with Vlahovic, who completed a nice offensive move, putting the Bianconeri ahead. The doubling came in the 39th minute, when Savona found the net with a precise shot, taking advantage of a lack of concentration from the Gialloblu defense. Verona, in difficulty, tried to react, but without managing to create any real dangerous opportunities.
In the second half, Juventus continued to dominate the match, effectively closing the game in the 53rd minute. Mbangula, in one of his forays down the left flank, entered the penalty area, where he was brought down by Tchatchoua with a foul that forced the referee to award a penalty. Vlahovic took charge of the kick, wrong-footing goalkeeper Montipò with a precise shot to the left, while the goalkeeper was diving in the opposite direction. This third goal definitively extinguished Verona's hopes of recovering.
Despite the heavy disadvantage, Hellas Verona tried to respond, increasing the pressure especially in the second half of the second half. In the 69th minute, Tchatchoua had a chance with a shot from outside the area, but his conclusion ended up far from the goal. Shortly after, in the 76th minute, it was Harroui who came close to scoring, entering the area and shooting just wide. The last real chance for Verona came in the 81st minute, when Tchatchoua served a low pass to Tengstedt, whose close-range touch was however neutralized by Di Gregorio with an excellent intervention with his foot.
The official lineups deployed by the two coaches saw Hellas Verona take to the field with a 4-2-3-1, with Montipò between the posts, defended by Tchatchoua, Coppola, Dawidowicz and Magnani. In midfield, Belahyane and Duda were responsible for giving balance to the team, while Livramento, Suslov and Lazovic supported the lone striker Mosquera. Juventus, coached by Thiago Motta, responded with a 4-2-3-1, fielding Di Gregorio in goal, Savona, Bremer, Gatti and Cabal in defense, Locatelli and Fagioli in midfield, and an offensive trident composed of Cambiaso, Yildiz and Mbangula behind Vlahovic.
Cagliari – Como: 1-1
In the other match of the evening, Cagliari and Como drew 1-1 in an intense and very hard-fought match. Cagliari opened the scoring in the 44th minute of the first half with Piccoli, who finished off a move orchestrated by Luperto. Como responded in the second half, finding the equaliser in the 52nd minute with Cutrone, who was able to exploit a situation created by a corner kick. The match was balanced, with Cagliari having a couple of good opportunities to regain the lead, in particular with Lapadula in the 78th minute and a powerful shot by Marin in the 84th minute, both of which were blocked with difficulty by Como goalkeeper Reina. However, neither team managed to find the decisive goal.
The official lineups of the match saw Cagliari line up with a 3-5-2, with Scuffet in goal, protected by a three-man defense composed of Zappa, Mina and Luperto. In midfield, Azzi, Deiola, Prati, Marin and Augello tried to act as a filter and support the two strikers, Luvumbo and Piccoli. Como, on the other hand, opted for a 4-4-2, with Reina between the posts, defended by Iovine, Dossena, Barba and Moreno. In midfield, Strefezza, Mazzitelli, Braunoder and Da Cunha supported the offensive tandem composed of Cutrone and Belotti.
This draw leaves Cagliari and Como with one point each, waiting for the next matches to improve their position in the standings. Juventus, on the other hand, thanks to the victory against Verona, finds itself alone at the top, confirming itself among the favorites for the title in this new Serie A season.
