Serie A: Pellegrini gives Roma the derby, Cremonese draws again, and Atalanta wins in Turin.
In the midday heat, Lorenzo Pellegrini settled a scorching derby. Roma won 1-0 against Lazio, moving up to nine points. Cremonese and Parma finished 0-0, with the Grisorossi remaining undefeated. Atalanta, meanwhile, prevailed in Turin, scoring the third goal in eight minutes thanks to Sulemana and a brace from Krstović.
Lazio-Roma 0-1
Roma won the first derby of the season by beating Lazio 1-0 on matchday four of the championship. The victory was sealed by Lorenzo Pellegrini, a true derby man, who found the decisive impact in the 37th minute of the first half, capitalizing on a mistake by Nuno Tavares. The match immediately became complicated for Sarri, who was forced to make a substitution after just 12 minutes: Dele-Bashiru left the field with a muscle problem in his right thigh flexor, making way for Belahyane. Despite the difficulty, the Biancocelesti created their first real chances: Pedro and Tavares both attempted long-range attempts without precision, Zaccagni tested Svilar with a dangerous shot, while Rovella played a low ball that neither Dia nor Zaccagni could convert. Just when the Biancocelesti seemed to be in control, Roma struck. Gasperini's high pressure led Rensch to steal the ball from Tavares, feed Soulé, and allow Pellegrini to score from the edge of the box.
The second half opened with Roma attempting a save through Angelino, but the best chance fell to Dia, who fired over in front of Svilar. As the minutes passed, the Giallorossi lost their composure and pace, but Lazio failed to capitalize on their decline. Castellanos, coming off the bench, threatened on several occasions and kept the Biancocelesti's hopes alive. The pressure mounted, until the final thrill in injury time when a splendid shot from Cataldi hit the post. Ends 0-1.
Cremonese-Parma 0-0
Dangerous chances were few and far between, especially in the final minutes of the first half. Pellegrino was the star, beating Bianchetti with a header that just missed the top corner. The striker then attempted a second attempt with his foot, but was quickly saved by Audero.
In the second half, Vazquez was the liveliest player, sparking Cremonese's attacking play and sending shockwaves to the finish with a vicious cross-shot that Suzuki blocked for a corner. Cuesta's team remained aggressive on second chances and looked for a winner through Bernabé, but Audero again steadily blocked the ball.
Torino-Atalanta 0-3
Torino started better and in the 12th minute created the first chance with Simeone, who was good at controlling a clearance from Israel and serving Vlasic, who shot cross-field but didn't find the target. After half an hour, however, the Granata were surprised on the left lane: Samardzic broke through to the end of the pitch, attracting more defenders and passing to the centre for Kristovic, left culpably alone, who scored his first goal for the Nerazzurri. Torino felt the blow and five minutes later committed another serious error. Maripan mistimed his run out to tackle Samardzic, who linked up with Bellanova and fired a left-footed shot against the post; Zappacosta swooped on the rebound and, after controlling it, passed it to Solomon who puts it back in the net. Just three minutes later, the third goal arrives. Sulemana runs down the left lane and crosses to the far post for Kristovic, who scored his second goal with a header. Half-time was greeted by boos from the home crowd.
In the second half, the Granata attempted to respond again with Simeone, who tested Carnesecchi first with a long-range shot that was easy to control, then in the 64th minute with a more dangerous effort that went just over. The Argentine striker tried again in the 67th minute with a central run, but Carnesecchi denied him again. At the other end, Israel was called upon to save a powerful right-footed shot from outside the area by Sulemana. In the 73rd minute, referee Colombo was called to VAR for an incident in the penalty area and awarded a penalty to Torino. Zapata stepped up to the spot, but Carnesecchi continued his fine form by blocking the Colombian's effort. Atalanta also came close to making it four in the 77th minute with a splendid volley from Pasalic off a Sulemana cross that flew just over the crossbar. At the end, Juric also gave a few minutes of play to Lookman, fresh from his reinstatement in the squad after summer rumors of his possible departure. Ends 0-3.
