Serie A: Inter joins Roma and Napoli at the top of the table.
The league's week-long matchday began with few goals, but a few surprises. There was little excitement in the afternoon with the 0-0 draws between Lecce and Sassuolo and Pisa and Verona. Torino, however, managed a major upset, defeating league leaders Napoli thanks to a goal from former player Simeone. Inter took advantage, winning the big match against Roma, drawing level with them at the top of the table.
Lecce-Sassuolo 0-0
In the first half, the hosts controlled the ball better, attempting to build patiently and maintain control of the game. The Emilians, on the other hand, opted to wait and counterattack, relying on Laurienté's speed to surprise the Salento defense. Opportunities, however, were few and far between, and the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, Sassuolo further dropped their center of gravity, while Lecce increased the pressure in search of an advantage. Di Francesco brought on Camarda for Stulic, but the move didn't produce the desired effect. Despite the Giallorossi's late push, the score remained undecided. Ends 0-0.
Pisa-Verona 0-0
The visitors got off to a better start in the first half. Verona came close to taking the lead twice, first through Giovane and then through Cham, but Nerazzurri goalkeeper Semper responded promptly, keeping a clean sheet. Pisa surged toward the end of the half and threatened with a header from Moreo, which went just over the crossbar.
In the second half, Pisa grew in strength and attempted two chances through Nzola, but Montipo was unable to trouble him. In the 55th minute, Verona squandered the lead through Orban, who capitalized on a misplaced back pass from Aebischer. He found himself alone in front of Semper, but his shot incredibly over. After the Gialloblù's glaring opportunity, the match continued without excitement until the very end. Ends 0-0.
Turin-Naples 1-0
The first real scare came from Vlasic, who almost took the lead in the 20th minute with a powerful left-footed shot from the edge of the area: the ball hit the post and crossed the entire net before going out. In the 32nd minute, following a defensive misunderstanding by Napoli, Gilmour touched it backwards, giving the ball to Simeon, who made no mistake when one-on-one with Milinkovic-Savic. It was the former player's goal that gave the Granata the lead. Napoli, reeling from the deficit, struggled to build play. De Bruyne and Anguissa failed to find space between the lines, while Lucca remained isolated among the Granata defenders.
In the second half, Napoli attempted to press Torino in their own half, but lacked the precision and ideas to truly threaten. The clearest chance to equalize came in injury time: Politano hit the post with a curling left-footed shot, and Lang collected the rebound and scored, but the joy was short-lived. The linesman, later confirmed by VAR, flagged the ball for an offside position. The match ends. 1-0.
Roma-Inter 0-1
The game broke the deadlock immediately. In the 7th minute Barella found a central opening and served Bonny With a perfect through ball, the Giallorossi defense remained immobile, and the French striker wasted no time, beating Svilar with a precise right-footed shot. Shortly after, in the 15th minute, a mistake by N'Dicka gave Inter another chance: Mkhitaryan, alone in front of goal, fired over, missing a chance to double their lead. The first half continued with Inter in control and Roma unable to react. The Giallorossi closed back, trying to contain Inter's possession, but struggled to find any offensive outlets.
In the second half, Roma tried to raise their game, but their play remained predictable. The best chance came from a dead-ball situation: from a corner, Dovbyk rose to head the ball high over the crossbar. Inter responded on the counterattack, attempting to exploit the spaces left by the home side. In the 85th minute, Frattesi broke into a sprint and fed Mkhitaryan, who struck the post with a precise left-footed shot with Svilar beaten. The match ended 0-1.
