Champions League: Juventus-Borussia ends 4-4, everything happens in a crazy second half.
After Saturday's spectacular 4-3 draw against Inter, the Allianz Stadium once again hosted an incredible match. On the first matchday of the League Phase, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund drew 4-4 in a second half of comebacks and counter-comebacks. Dusan Vlahovic played a key role, coming off the bench to score a brace and providing the decisive assist in the last second.
Juventus-Borussia Dortmund 4-4
Tudor's team got off to a flying start and came close to taking the lead after just five minutes through Thuram, who forced Kobel to deflect the ball into a corner. The Bianconeri continued to push forward and created three more key chances: first through Bremer, then Yildiz, and finally Openda. Despite the pressure, the first half ended goalless.
The script changes radically in the second half. After a few minutes adeyemi surprises the Juventus defence with a powerful left-footed shot from the edge of the box that beats Di Gregorio. The Bianconeri response is not long in coming with Star who creates a feat thanks to his fantastic curling right-footed shot that makes it 1-1. The joy, however, lasts less than a minute, because Finishing finds the yellow and black lead again with an equally spectacular shot from outside. Juve doesn't give up and manages to make it 2-2 Vlahovic, who had just come on, finished off a brilliant assist from Yildiz. The match continued unabated, and in the 65th minute, Borussia struck again: Yan couto surprises Di Gregorio at the near post with a dry left-footed shot to make it 3-2. It seems like the turning point when bensebaini, from the spot, converts the penalty awarded after a VAR review for a handball by Kelly. At 4-2 and with only a few minutes left to play, the visitors seem on the verge of a coup, but Juventus pride prevents the joke.
In recovery Vlahovic shortens the distance again, rekindling hopes, and a few moments later it's the same Kelly to make amends with the goal that is worth the 4-4 final.
An incredible evening in Turin. After a tense first half, the match ignited in the second half with eight goals in total. Juventus salvaged an unexpected point and began their European campaign with a spectacular draw that, however, left some doubts about their defensive performance.
