Champions League: Atalanta secures first win, Inter maintains perfect points.
Matchday two of the Champions League got off to a flying start for the Italian teams. Atalanta secured their first win thanks to a comeback against Club Brugge. Meanwhile, Inter had a comfortable run, bolstered by Lautaro's brace and a goal from Dumfries, beating Slavia Prague 3-0 and taking the top spot in the League Phase.
Atalanta-Bruges 2-1
The match opened with a slow pace and a long period of deliberation. The only initial excitement came in the third minute, when Bernasconi fired a first-time header from De Roon's free kick on the right, which was saved by Sabbe. Shortly after, in the 15th minute, Tzolis fired over after being passed by Forbes. The Nerazzurri grew in strength around the 3th minute: first Pasalic and Lookman crashed into the Belgian defensive wall following Bernasconi's opener from the left, then Ederson, after nutmegging Vanaken, fired wide from a good position. In the 39th minute, Club Brugge struck a surprise. A mistake in De Roon's build-up allowed Forbes, who set up Tresoldi and then Tzolis: the attacker cuts back onto his right foot and from the edge of the box places a precise curling shot that beats Carnesecchi to make it 0-1.
In the second half, the protagonist of the visitors' lead tried again from distance, but was met with an uncertain but effective response from Carnesecchi. In the 57th minute, Sandra, under pressure from Ahanor, misplaced a back pass and allowed Musah to run, but Jackers stopped him illegally in the area. The contact awarded the penalty to Bergamo, which was coolly converted by Samardzic that wrong-footed the goalkeeper. Brugge had a glorious chance to get back in front after half an hour: Musah lost a dangerous ball and Vermant, with the net wide, incredibly missed the target. Having escaped the danger, Atalanta completed their comeback. From a Samardzic corner, Musah laid it off for Pasalic who from two steps heads the ball home for the final 2-1.
Inter-Slavia Prague 3-0
Chivu's team started strong, pinning Slavia back into their own half. The Czechs defended relentlessly, forcing Inter to look for long-range options, but Stanek couldn't trouble them. On the half-hour mark, the visiting goalkeeper made a spectacular mistake with a short clearance, giving the ball away to Lautaro Martinez who takes advantage of the mistake and makes it 1-0. Just four minutes pass and the doubling is served: Thuram breaks through on the left with his usual power, gets to the bottom and puts a precise ball into the center that Dumfries He converts to make it 2-0. Inter goes into the break in complete control.
In the second half, the Nerazzurri slowed the pace without ever taking any risks. The third goal arrived in the 63rd minute, definitively putting the exclamation point on the evening. The move began with a brilliant backheel from Thuram for Bastoni, who advanced and passed the ball to the ball. LautaroThe Argentine perfectly completed the combination and scored his second goal. The only sour note was Thuram's injury, as he was forced to leave the field after touching his left thigh immediately after the splendid play. It ends 3-0.
