Moto GP: second victory for Marc Marquez, fourth place for Bagnaia.
The second GP of the season was held on the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit. Also in the Argentine GP, the eight-time world champion Marc Marquez imposed himself with a strong victory, once again preceding his brother Alex. Franco Morbidelli completed the podium in third place.
Family Duel: Alex Makes Marc Tremble
It was not a victory like the others for Marc Marquez. This time, the 93 had to sweat more than usual, finding himself behind Alex for most of the race. The 73 showed exponential growth, maintaining the lead in the central phase of the race and forcing Marc to play it all. A five laps to go, however, the eight-time world champion showed off his best weapon: a textbook braking that allowed him to reclaim the lead and cross the finish line first.
Alex Marquez he can still consider himself satisfied: two second places in the first two races of the year keep him in the wake of his brother, demonstrating that this season he can be an absolute protagonist.
Morbidelli back on the podium, Bagnaia in trouble
Behind the Marquez duo, it was Franco Morbidelli to shine. The Italian rider made a bold choice, fitting a soft rear tyre, and in the first laps he staged some great overtaking moves. After having passed Fabio DiGiannantonio e Johann zarco, has focused on Francis Bagnaia, passing him on the fourth lap with a great maneuver.
It should have been Bagnaia who had a superior pace over the distance, but the vice world champion was never able to worry Morbidelli and, indeed, had to fight with Zarco who kept him away from the top positions. A disappointing result for Pecco, who now finds himself at -31 in the standings by Marc Marquez after just two rounds.
For Morbidelli, however, it is a return to the podium that has been missing for almost four years, precisely from May 2021.
Next up: MotoGP flies to Austin
The 2025 MotoGP season continues in two weeks with the GP of the Americas in Austin, one of Marc Marquez's favorite tracks.
