Formula 1: Norris wins Australian GP, Ferrari disaster.

The 2025 Formula 1 World Championship opened this weekend at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne. The Australian GP was won by Norris with his McLaren, ahead of Verstappen and Russell. A race to forget for Ferrari, with Leclerc in eighth place and Hamilton in tenth.

The race

The race of Melbourne It started on a wet track, with an initial balance between Norris, Verstappen and Piastri. Subsequently, the Dutchman lost contact with the two McLarens, definitely the best cars on the track. The second part was characterised by the Safety car called into question after an accident of Fernando Alonso, a crucial moment in which everyone chose to mount slick tyres with bated breath for the arrival of the rain. In the final part of the race, the arrival of the rain involved the drivers in different strategies, overturning the final positions. The one who paid the price was Oscar piastri, betrayed by the choice to stay on slick tyres on a damp track: the Australian, who until that moment had been second behind Norris, dropped down the standings to ninth place.

Norris he therefore won the first GP, in front of a great Verstappen and Russell.

Ferrari disaster

If McLaren and Red Bull were playing for the victory, the Ferrari he lived a real nightmare. A disastrous race that raises doubts about the 2025 project and the strategic choices of the Maranello team. Charles Leclerc, after a promising start with overtaking on Yuki tsunoda e Alex Albon, found himself stuck in traffic and unable to recover positions. Lewis Hamilton, on his debut with Ferrari, had a frustrating race, constantly behind Albon's Williams. The decisions of the Ferrari pit wall made the situation even worse: the decision to stay on the hard tyres on a track that was now wet proved to be a failure. Leclerc finished in eighth position and Hamilton in tenth, behind cars that were decidedly inferior on paper.

What a debut for Kimi, Albon also shines

The Australian weekend saw the performances of Alex Albon e Andrea Kimi AntonelliThe Williams driver managed the race masterfully, defending himself from Hamilton's attacks and taking his car to an extraordinary fifth place. Antonelli, born in 2006, making his absolute debut in F1, had a race as a protagonist: after an initial spin, the young Italian recovered positions, showing a pace similar to that of George Russell, closing at fourth after a fantastic race.

Shanghai on the horizon: the first Sprint weekend is coming

Formula 1 does not stop and will be back on track next week for the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, which will also be the first event with the Sprint format of 2025. In Shanghai, new answers are expected, especially from Ferrari, which will have to demonstrate that it can compete, and from Norris and Verstappen, ready to challenge each other again for the supremacy of the season.
