Formula 1: McLaren one-two in Shanghai, Ferraris disqualified

This morning, on the Shanghai circuit, Oscar Piastri's McLaren triumphed at the Chinese GP. Second place for the other McLaren of Norris, while Russell's Mercedes completed the podium.

The race

After a great start, Piastres He drove with authority from the first corner to the checkered flag, keeping behind him a very fast Norris, but never really able to worry him. The two imposed a pace that was unrivaled by their opponents, confirming the progress of the MCL38 and relaunching the British team's world championship ambitions. As for Ferrari, it was supposed to be a race of redemption and instead it turned into a nightmare. At the start, Leclerc and Hamilton touched each other while trying to overtake Verstappen, with the Monegasque damaging his front wing. Despite the damage, Leclerc appeared more competitive than Lewis, so much so that the team ordered the change of positions on the track. At the end, a Verstappen not in great shape, he returned to fourth position, behind George Russell

The real disaster, however, came several hours after the race. Both Ferrari have in fact been disqualified. The single-seater of Leclerc was one kilogram underweight compared to the minimum limit (799 kg against the 800 regulation), while the car Hamilton showed irregular wear of the pad under the bottom, 0,5 mm less than the minimum allowed. Pierre Gasly was also disqualified, for the same reason as Leclerc. A double insult for Ferrari, which from a potential fifth and sixth place finds itself empty-handed, losing precious points in both the drivers' and constructors' standings.

The next appointment is set for the weekend of April 4-6 with the Japanese GPMcLaren ready to confirm its position on the top step of the podium, Ferrari called upon to remedy the disaster.
