Cortina d'Ampezzo, redevelopment of the bobsleigh facility.

The Agreement was signed today between the Veneto Region, the Extraordinary Commissioner Luigi Valerio Sant'Andrea and the Department for Sport for the realization of the redevelopment of the plant grain 'Eugenio Monti' in Cortina d'Ampezzo, in view of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

This was announced by the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, today in Venice, during the meeting with the Olympic and Paralympic athletes from Veneto.

"In this way - Zaia said with satisfaction – we have overcome the delays caused in relation to the pandemic. We deliver to the commissioner structure a work already financed and ready for construction, so as to be able to ensure a faster and more effective process, which will give acceleration to a strategic work for the territory and valorisation of the Venetian mountains on the occasion of the games Milano Curtain 2026".

“With this outline of agreement we accelerate the race towards Milano Cortina 2026 – continues the Governor – fruit of the synergy between public entities. A collaboration which in Veneto sees the Province of Belluno and the Municipality of Cortina alongside the Region and which today, with this further agreement, confirms the strategic importance of the Cortina plant.

Bobsleigh, together with the fast disciplines of luge and skeleton, represent a promotional opportunity for the Veneto and for the entire national territory only if they find their home in the 'Eugenio Monti'. First facility in the world also dedicated to the Paralympic discipline of bobsleigh, which will not only come back to life but I am sure will become a European reference facility for winter sports and for National Federations".
